I received the above PR postcard in the mail the other day about the fabulous Red and White Quilt Exhibit the American Museum of Folk Art is opening in New York in March. WOW! and WOW! again! According to the card, the exhibit is open only 6 days!

All the quilts come from one private New York collection!
How many of you have made a Red & White quilt?
Hope you aren't too deeply buried in snow!
Karen in the Islands where it is in the 40s and no sign of snow, for which I am very grateful!
PS: Update Thursday Dec 23 - I just discovered the link to more quilts in New York City. Also, Kim Wulfert has more information on her website New Pathways to Quilt History.
So wish I was able to attend this fabulous quilt exhibit!!! Red and white quilts are my favorite and every time I see this promo piece, I drool!! Awesomeness!
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I could go to this exhibit!
ReplyDeleteReally cool! Looks like no two are the same pattern either! I like the way they even drapped some over the chairs~ I'd have a problem looking up so long unless there are different floors you walk around them? Who would have thought of a two-color quilt exhibit!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic image! How many years and how many places to amass such a collection!! Love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and leaving your comments! The more I study this image, the more I am wondering...is this the way the exhibit is really going to be hung? The exhibit doesn't even take place until March. Could this simply be a computer generated image for "arts" sake? I have to agree with Cathy, if the quilts are actually hung that high, we are going to have a hard time viewing them and are going to have very sore necks when we do!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen - thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoyed my day at the American Folk Art Museum, and whilst there I also picked up the postcard of the Red/White Quilt Exhibit to be held in March. Stunning!
Seasons greetings,
Rita
What a huge undertaking for only 5 days!! I agree that the pic must be computer generated. It certainly does make you want to see the exhibit thought, doesn't it!
