40th Surpise!

Even after 40 years together, my guy can still surprise me sometimes! But I think this is the biggest surprise he has ever pulled off because he had to actually think this thru carefully and contact two of my quilt historian friends to find a quilt from the Shenandoah Valley for my collection. He carried it to the party in what I thought was a box of wine bottles. Little did I know!

My specific interest in quilts began in 1977 with the first quilts my mother-in-law made for our children. In 1980 I began quilting myself and joined the newly formed American Quilt Study Group (AQSG). In 2001 I was invited to join the Board of The Quilters Hall of Fame (TQHF) and became president in 2005. My term ended Dec 2008. I continue to actively support all forms of quilt history as vehicles of women's history, family history and cultural/social history, including AQSG, TQHF, The Alliance for American Quilts, The Quilt Index, Quilters-Save-Our Stories (Q-SOS) as well as quilt history related museums.
